Noncommutative Geometry and Diffeology: The Case of Orbifolds

We establish a structural link between diffeological orbifolds regarded as diffeologies and non-commutative geometry. Precisely, we associate a structure groupoid with every atlas of a diffeological orbifold. We show that different atlases give equivalent groupoids, that generate Morita equivalent C*-algebras, according to the standard Connes-Renault procedure. [Joint with Jean-Pierre Laffineur]
