Abstract: Let S denote the usual class of normalized univalent functions in the unit disc U. The main result presented in the lecture is the precise value of the minimum of the area of f(U) in the subclass of functions f in S with a fixed second coefficient. This answers a long standing open problem, and is a joint work with Harold Shapiro and Alex Solynin.
